Katie J.M. Baker

Katie J.M. Baker was selected for the 2020 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘WWF’s Secret War.’

Katie J.M. Baker has been a reporter for BuzzFeed News since 2014, writing stories that have prompted national legislation and changed Maryland state law. Her investigation into Massage Envy, the largest massage franchise in the U.S., found that franchises were systemically mishandling sexual assault complaints, led to sweeping policy changes. The WWF series, meanwhile, has already prompted nationwide legislation in the US as well as government investigations in the US and Europe and an internal review overseen by a former UN special rapporteur for human rights. Other pieces of note include the first mainstream profile of Juanita Broaddrick (Bill Clinton’s rape accuser), the Stanford Victim’s letter, and a series on sexual misconduct by university professors.
