After emailing, calling, tweeting – sometimes plainly stalking – laureates, it was great to meet them in Budapest. My highlights were speaking with Stéphane Horel, on the importance of recognising projects like the Monsanto Papers, because it is difficult to oppose such a powerful corporation alone. And meeting Dragan Bursać, who thought that I pranked him when I called about his nomination, and was moved to tears on stage.
