Cătălina Dumbrăveanu was selected for the 2019 European Press Prize shortlist with ‘The Drums of Democracy‘
Cătălina Dumbrăveanu, together with the Are We Europe team, developed “The Drums of Democracy”, the first story of Edges of Europe, a long-term storytelling project, which looks at Europe from the very edges of its borders and the themes that shape its common future and identity. Its aim is to uncover personal stories and insights from forgotten regions at Europe’s borders by taking a collaborative approach of a local investigative team.
Cătălina has extensive experience in media-related project management and the youth non-profit sector, and holds a degree in Political Science. She is part of the Are We Europe media collective, which was founded to support emerging creative talent in Europe and promote cross-border storytelling.

Efe Kerem Sözeri is a Turkish researcher who wrote about the use of disinformation and censorship by governments. He has published stories on P24 and Bianet in Turkey, TAZ in Germany, Poynter and Daily Dot in the U.S. He also works on a PhD thesis on migrants’ political preferences, and has two kids.
