Pablo Gutiérrez is a visual journalist at The Guardian, where he works on visual investigations and graphics. His reporting focuses on complex global issues, including the COVID-19 pandemic and environmental challenges, helping to make data-driven stories accessible and engaging for a broad audience.
With a career spanning nearly 30 years, Pablo has developed a sustained commitment to clear and informative visual storytelling. Before joining The Guardian, he worked in London with the BBC and in Spain with El Mundo. During his time at El Mundo, he received several recognitions from the Society for News Design (SND), including Malofiej awards, acknowledging excellence in infographics and visual journalism.
He holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts, a background that informs his approach to journalism by combining clarity, design, and narrative. Across his work, Pablo is interested in how visual storytelling can contribute to a better public understanding of important issues.
His work reflects a careful, considered approach to journalism, using visuals not just to illustrate stories but to help explain them.
