Per Mathiessen

Per Mathiessen is an investigative and political journalist at the Danish nationwide daily and leading online media, Ekstra Bladet. Since he came to the politics desk at Ekstra Bladet in 2013 he has been the driving force in a number of major revelations that have changed the Danish political landscape:

His journalism has set the framework for every local, regional, European and national elections in Denmark since November 2013 and is also crucial for the current political situation in Denmark.

He has won several Danish journalism awards (Bording, Victor & Münster) and has been nominated for Cavling and the FUJ Prize several times. Per Mathiessen has an analytical, thorough and stubborn approach to journalism. He is never trying to please anyone. He has worked as a reporter and managing editor at so different media as the technical paper “Engineering Weekly” and the daily “Ekstra Bladet”. Unlike most Danish journalists he has a technical background. Before he got his journalism degree from the Danish School of Media and Journalism, he taught mathematics and mechanical physics. As a journalist, he also seeks answers which can be emphasized.
