Bert Lanting

Bert Lanting  (1954) is a Dutch journalist and former foreign affairs editor at Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant.

Bert graduated in Slavonic Languages & Literature and International Law at the University of Amsterdam, including one year at the University of Voronezh, Soviet Union.

Bert started his career as jounalist at the foreign desk of the Dutch press agency ANP.

He later switched to Het Parool newspaper in Amsterdam, before joining the newspaper De Volkskrant. He lived and worked 16 years abroad as correspondent for De Volkskrant in Moscow (during the Yeltsin years), Washington (Clinton impeachment, 9/11) and Brussels. His experience includes covering the wars in Yugoslavia, Chechnya and in Ukraine (2014).
